DUKE OF EDINBURGH – Meeting period 2 today in the cafeteria extension.
MEET THE STAFF NIGHT – Tomorrow night (Thursday, September 22nd, 2016) at 7:00pm. Parents are asked to proceed to their child’s homeroom class. Repeat session will be held for parents who have more than one child at the school.
EWS TERRY FOX RUN/WALK – Will take place tomorrow, Thursday, September 22nd during last period. Staff and students are encouraged to bring a loonie or toonie (to be collected by homeroom teachers) and EWS will forward all donations to The Terry Fox Foundation. Also, tomorrow will be “Hat Day”. Students who pay $2 can wear a hat all day.
REMINDER TO STUDENTS LEAVING SCHOOL PROPERTY AT LUNCHTIME – STUDENTS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO USE ANY SKATEBOARDS OR BIKES WHEN LEAVING THE SCHOOL – WALKING ONLY.
STUDENT COUNCIL – Any grade 9 students interested in student council are asked to submit a written resume (who you are, what you hope to achieve on student council) to Mr. Wight by Monday, September 26th BY 3P.M.
Jazz Band rehearsals will be held during both lunches today with our first rehearsal starting this week. Students are expected to talk to the teacher of the class they will miss before 3rd period on Wednesday’s to find out what work they will be missing. Teacher’s WILL get an email each Wednesday listing the students they will be missing that day.
YEARBOOK COMMITTEE – The yearbook committee members will be posted in the lobby tomorrow (Thursday, September 22nd).
SNACKCART – All items on the snack cart (grade 7 wing) will now be priced at .50 per item.
CROSS COUNTRY RUNNING – Practice TODAY 3:15-4:15pm. All welcome to attend.
RECREATIONAL VOLLEYBALL – This is open to any interested students who are not on the school team. Practices will be held on Fridays. Sign-up sheet in the Lobby.
THE EWS GOLF CLUB had a wonderful afternoon at Glen Afton yesterday. Thanks to everyone for coming out. If anyone forgot to hand in their scorecard to the ProShop yesterday, please get it to Mr. Casey or Mrs. Campbell before lunch. If you can’t get your scorecard here because it is at home, you have to talk to Mr. Casey or Mrs. Campbell before lunch.

FIELD HOCKEY – Congratulations to the girls who began their season with a convincing 6-0 victory over SIS. Great team play and passing led the Warrior attack with goals being scored by Sophie Flynn, Jenaya Ross, Maria McLane, and Mackayla Vos who scored 3. Goalie Maddison Thompson recorded the shut out victory. There will be practice today, 3:30-5:15 pm at EWS with a parent meeting to follow. Game tomorrow at the turf.
BOYS VOLLEYBALL – Defeated Stonepark yesterday 3-0. Practice today.
THE HOLLAND COLLEGE HURRICANES DANCE TEAM – Would like you to “Save the Date” for their first ever Junior & Senior High School Dance Competition. Please relay to your students that have an interest in dance – Saturday, December 3rd – There will be an open competition for school-based teams to perform & compete in front of their parents & peers.
HOCKEY ACADEMY – A parents meeting for students involved in the hockey academy will take place in the library after the sessions finish for Meet the Staff Thursday evening.
As well, our fundraiser has begun! Members are selling hockey pools for the NHL regular season. Pools are due by October 12th. They are $10.00 each. 1st prize is $750.00, 2nd prize is $250.00, 3rd prize is a 1 month membership at Synergy Fitness. Any questions see Mr. Cusack or Mr. McEntee.
