BAKE SALE – There will be a bake sale on Friday, September 30th during both lunches to support the Girls RC United U14 Soccer team travelling to Nationals next week. All items $1.00.
EAST WILTSHIRE DRIVE AWAY HUNGER – A reminder to classes that prizes will be given to the top classes in each grade who bring in food donations. Keep up the good work and help EWS Drive Away Hunger.
YEARBOOK COMMITTEE – Meeting today in Mr. Martin’s office at the beginning of grade 9 lunch today.
WRITING CLUB – All students interested in joining EWS writing club, this year, are welcome to attend our first meeting on Wednesday, October 5th. We will be meeting in the Library from 3:15 – 4:15.
HOCKEY ACADEMY – Today for grades 8 & 9 students. Students will go to the APM centre when they are called down at 1:45pm. Students are reminded to get any work they missed from their teachers. Arrange for pickup at the APM centre at 4:00pm. Any students that are going on the ice today and have not yet received their jersey and socks should see Mr. Cusack before lunch time today.
HOCKEY POOL – Early bird prize for top seller will be determined on Friday. Another prize will be determined on October 12th for overall top seller.
PAINTBALL – Any students that have paid there $20 and passed in their permission slip to the main office, there will be a meeting at break time in the gymnasium re: paintball this Saturday. ALL MUST ATTEND.
BAND STUDENTS, Congratulations on a great magazine campaign. It looks like we’ve raised around $8000. If you have paper subscriptions at home yet, they need to come into Mr. Nabuurs right away. Thanks
JAZZ BAND will have its first practice today at lunch. Students will be missing 1 lunch time class. They should speak to THAT teacher before 3rd period this morning to let them know and to see what work you will be missing. Mr. Nabuurs will send an email tomorrow at lunch informing teachers who will be absent.
LEADERSHIP & PEERHELPERS – Will be absent from classes on Thursday to participate in a leadership/training day.
CROSS COUNTRY RUNNING – Will be absent from classes on Friday afternoon. Practice on Thursday after school.
THE EWS GOLF TEAM – Will have a meeting at the end of Period 6 today in the weight room to discuss the Zone playdowns which are happening tomorrow, Thursday, at Countryview. Bring your books as you’ll go directly to 7th period from the meeting. Please note this is NOT a meeting for the entire golf club. It is only for the six players representing our school on the team at the playdowns.
INTRAMURALS: Dodgeball Derby will begin next week. Sign-up sheets will be in each homeroom class.
FIELD HOCKEY: The girls defeated Montague 2-0 yesterday. Maddison Thompson earned her 3rd shutout. Strong play by the mid fielders Sophie Flynn, Claire Pickens and Sarah Peters with Maria McLane and Makayla Vos finishing off the attack with a goal each. Girls practice today at the turf from 3:35 – 5:00. Players are asked to please dismiss at 2:55 and take Bus #171 at dismissal.
THE HOLLAND COLLEGE HURRICANES DANCE TEAM would like you to “Save the Date” for their first ever Junior & Senior High School Dance Competition. Please relay to your students that have an interest in dance – Saturday, December 3rd – There will be an open competition for school-based teams to preform & compete in front of their parents & peers.
CAFETERIA – Hot turkey sandwich with mashed potato and hot vegetable $5.25 Students are asked to line up in single file, and have the correct change. Specials are posted on the announcements so please review and have an idea of what you would like to order. This will make for a more efficient lunch hour. SPEED SKATING & LEARN TO SKATE REGISTRATION – Build on-ice confidence and life-long skating skills that can be used for everyday skating, speed skating and all ice sports. Speed Skate PEI is accepting registrations in its Learn to Skate, Learn to Speed Skate, competitive and recreational speed skating programs at www.speedskatepei.ca.
