TERRY FOX FACTS: During his Marathon of Hope, Terry said, “I just wish people would realize that anything’s possible if you try; dreams are made possible if you try.”


EWS Terry Fox Run/Walk: This school-wide event is scheduled to take place today during last period. Students are asked to go back to their homeroom class for 7th period and wait to be called from there. Staff and students are encouraged to donate “Toonies for Terry” or any donation will be acceptable. Let’s show our EWS Warrior spirit in the fight to cure cancer! Please give Terry Fox donations to your homeroom teacher and send to the office this morning.

Orange Shirt Day occurs on the last day of September (this year September 29th as the 30th falls on a Saturday). September 30th has been declared Orange Shirt Day annually, in recognition of the harm the residential school system did to children’s sense of self-esteem and well being, and as an affirmation of our commitment to ensure that everyone around us matters.

Grade 9 Band students interested who wish to play in the PEI Intermediate Honors Band this year need to sign up on the sheet on the bulletin board in the outer band room BEFORE the end of the day, Friday NEXT WEEK. Remember that if you put your name on the sheet you agree to be available the whole weekend of Jan 26, 27 and 28.  If you have questions, please speak to Mr. Nabuurs.


Mr. Nabuurs hopes to have all the prizes for the Band Magazine Campaign listed on the bulletin board in the band room.  The sheet to order your prizes off of the prize poster will be up next week.  The ice cream party will be later in Ocotber, The passes for the trampoline park will be passed out at the Ice Cream Party.


Reminder to Duke of Edinburgh participants – There will be a meeting during the first part of Period 3 today in the cafeteria extension.


TRANSFER BUSES – Just a reminder to EWS students transferring at Bluefield, please be sure to travel on your assigned transfer bus.


Reminder that student fees are now due.  Please pass in your student information packages ASAP!!!!!


Mrs. McKinley Curran’s class is organizing the annual “Drive Away Hunger” food drive and it is starting today. We are asking students, if possible, to try to donate one food item. All food donated will go to help out the Charlottetown food bank. The class that collects the most food in each grade level will win a prize! Last year we collected 1135 lbs of food to donate. GET COLLECTING!


Athletic Fees are past due.  Please make arrangements with Mr. MacAdam to have them paid as soon as possible as we have bills to pay for fall sports.


Girl’s Soccer:  The girls’ soccer team won their first game of the season last night with a 4-0 win over Queen Charlotte.  Scoring for the Warriors were Lexi Kowalchuk, Jaden Grant, Jillian Sanford, and Carly Thompson.  The Girls play Queen Charlotte on Monday at 4:00 at Queen Charlotte.  They will take taxis to the game.


Boy’s Soccer:  No Practice today


Girls AA Volleyball team lost a tough match to Queen Charlotte yesterday. Both teams will be playing after school today from 4-6 p.m.


Attention Golf Team Members: All boys are going to eat during the first lunch with departure from EWS at noon. Girls will leave at 1:00 p.m. Good luck to everyone at the Zone Qualifier.

Cross Country – Meet on Tuesday, October 3rd @ 10:00am Charlottetown Rural.  Any fall sport athletes who would like to participate please see Ms. Doyle-Hogan or Mr. Rogerson.

FIELD HOCKEY – The girls won 6-1 versus Birchwood yesterday. Leading the way was Maria McLane who had a hatrick. Also scoring were Lexi Buote, Sarah Peters, and Jenaya Ross. There is no practice today. Practice Monday.


INTRAMURALS: Free-play Badminton. Sign up to play – you must be changed with indoor sneakers.


Mr. MacCallum’s basketball club for girls grade 7, 8, and 9, will be Saturday ONLY 10:00 a.m. – 12:00. All welcome!
