ANNOUNCEMENTS

Tuesday, October 9th, 2017 – Day 4

 Congratulations to Faith Shaw for winning the Inspire Award at EWS.

 Congratulations to Madelyn Iwankow who was one of four winners for her poem in the Island-wide Poetry Contest! There is a concert at Confederation Centre on Nov. 19th to celebrate the winners. As well, for winning the contest she has also won a performance by the Atlantic String Machine here at the school

 Yearbook: There will be a brief yearbook committee meeting in Mrs. Tremere-Phelan’s classroom, 904, at the beginning of first lunch.  Any yearbook committee members unable to attend the meeting, please see Mrs. Tremere-Phelan at morning break.

TRANSFER BUSES – Just a reminder to EWS students transferring at Bluefield, please be sure to travel on your assigned transfer bus.

 Girls Basketball – Everyone Welcome!  Will be held this Saturday from 10:00am – 12:00am.  If you have your own basketball , please bring it with you.  This is not a school team.

 Reminder that student fees are now due. 

 Mrs. McKinley Curran’s class is organizing the annual “Drive Away Hunger” food drive and it is starting today. We are asking students, if possible, to try to donate one food item. All food donated will go to help out the Charlottetown food bank. The class that collects the most food in each grade level will win a prize! Last year we collected 1135 lbs of food to donate. GET COLLECTING!

Compassion It Meeting will be held on Monday, October 17th, after school from 3:15 – 4:15 in Mrs. Cusack’s room.  Students from grades 7,8 and 9 are all welcome to attend.

 Mrs. Cusack’s room will be open during grade 8 & 9 Lunch on Day 5  and during grade 7 & 8 lunch on Day 2 for Games with Peers.  Come choose a game from the shelf and socialize with other students while playing your favorite board game or card game.

 EWS SING – There will be no EWS Sing practice after school today as Ms. Campbell is out of the building.

 Science Fair – If you are interested in joining the Science Fair Club, please sign up on the sheet beside Mme. Deveau’s homeroom. The purpose of this club is to guide students through a Science Fair project in preparation for the Provincial Science Fair that will take place in March.  Please sign up by Friday if interested.

 ATHLETICS

 Athletic Fees are past due.  Please make arrangements with Mr. MacAdam to have them paid as soon as possible as we have bills to pay for fall sports.

 GOLF TEAM – Please return your golf shirts as soon as possible.

 Cross Country Running practice after school today.

Girls’ Volleyball:

Tuesday, Oct. 11  – 4:00 EWS @ Stonepark

 Cross Country Running – Practice today and Thursday.  Reminder of Provincials in Mill River on Saturday , October 21st.

 INTRAMURALS: Dodgeball Derby games are scheduled for today. Participants must be changed and wearing sneakers. The purpose of this event is to promote participation, fair play, and school spirit. Schedule and rules are posted in the lobby. Good luck to all teams!

 FIELD HOCKEY: Game today at the turf versus Montague at 3:35 pm. Players, please excuse no earlier than 2:20 pm and be prepared for the bus leaving before dismissal.

  CAFETERIA – Soft spicy chicken taco served with Mexican rice $5.25

Taco baked potato with side garden salad with juice $5.00

Egg salad sandwich with homemade soup of the day $4.50

The Inspire Award – The Public Schools Branch believes in celebrating the achievements of students, staff, and other valued members of our educational community.  We invite and encourage the PSB community to help us recognize individuals for the Inspire Award.  Nominating someone is simple – just take one or two minutes to complete an electronic nomination form on the PSB website at www.gov.pe.ca/edu/psb

Cornwall Youth Drop-In Center – Basement of Cornwall United Church Monday – Friday 2:30-6:00pm (11-17 years old).
