School soccer and field hockey is over, as well as the girl’s volleyball!!!!
As seasons come to a close, I want to remind athletes that they need to return their uniforms. Thanks to the boy’s soccer team, we have all of their uniforms in now.
Unfortunately, the volleyball team lost in their play off game last night vs. Stonepark. Congratulations on a good season.
Congratulations to the underdog Girl’s soccer team. Last night the EWS Girl’s defeated Birchwood 3-0 in what was a well executed Championship win. The team was led by Carly Thompson with a goal in the first half. In the second half, Jaden Grant and Emma MacIntyre added goals to secure the win. Emma Stevenson picked up her second shut out of the play offs for the win. Overall, the girls played an excellent game both offensively and defensively.
FIELD HOCKEY: Congratulations to our EWS team who are gold-winning Provincial Champions! Last night in the final against Stonepark, the Warriors used a strong team attack and had many scoring chances but could not find the back of the net sending the game into overtime with a 0-0 score. Overtime solved nothing, so the game went to an exciting shootout. In the shootout, Maria McLane scored a beautiful goal that proved to be the winner and Goalie Maddison Thompson stopped all five Stonepark shooters to seal the win and ignite the Warrior celebration!
Maddison Thompson was named a tournament all-star and Maria McLane was named MVP. We would also like to recognize the other wonderful graduating players: Jenaya Ross, Sarah Peters, Cora Annear, and Kali Smith. Congratulations to all players and coaches on a fantastic season!
INTRAMURALS: Sign-ups are taking place in the gym today for Halloween Spooktacular which is scheduled to take place Monday and Tuesday. All you have to do is find a partner and sign up. This event is organized and run by the EWS Leadership Group.
