 PROVINCIAL SCIENCE FAIR – Congratulations to Harmony Wills, Anna Jackson, Payton Smith and Meaghan Runge for doing a great job of representing EWS at the Provincial Science Fair before March Break. Results were as follows:

Harmony Wills – 4 specialty awards and an honorable mention in the junior division

Anna Jackson – 1 specialty award and honorable mention in the junior division

Payton Smith – 6 specialty awards

Meaghan Runge – 1 specialty award

Special mention to former EWS student Sophie MacDonald who won best in fair and will represent PEI at the Canada wide science fair in Ottawa in May.

 JAZZ BAND WILL REHEARSE TODAY AT LUNCH TIME!!.

 Wrestling today & tomorrow.

 U14 Girls Basketball Tryout cancelled today will go Thursday @ Stonepark form 5:00-6:45pm.

 Boys Spring League Volleyball after school until 4:45pm.

 Bluefield High School is putting on a musical! EWS will be going to see it on April 11th. Here are the details: Title: Camp Rock  Where: Bluefield Cafeteria

When: Wednesday, April 11

Cost:  $ 8.00 

Time: Grades 7 and 8 will be going in the morning of the 11th

Grade 9 will be going in the afternoon of the 11th

Pay your homeroom teacher to get your seat for this event! Have your money in before the 11th.

1. Registration is open for the PEI Home and School Federation’s 65th Annual General Meeting, April 14, 2018.

Annual General Meetings Details | Register Online | Review the proposed Policy Resolutions

Any parent, guardian, teacher, administrator or staff person at any PEIHSF member school is invited to the meeting with each member school appointing five (5) individuals to attend as voting delegates. Membership fees must be paid to allow voting privileges to voting delegates. Ensure that your Home & School is represented at the AGM. You are encouraged to pay registration fees, travel and accommodation expenses for your delegates to reduce barriers to attending. Call for more details: 620-3186 or 1-800-916-0664

2.       Resolutions
Resolutions will be voted on at the Annual General Meeting, April 14th. Presidents received the complete text of resolutions by post to share/review with members. Review the proposed Policy Resolutions
Please discuss and vote on these resolutions at your next home and school meeting: your voting delegates should reflect the opinions of the parents, guardians, teachers, administrators and staff in your school.

 Awards

School Crossing Guard of the Year Award: This award recognizes a school crossing guard on Prince Edward Island for their service in keeping our walking students safe.

School Bus Driver of the Year Award: This award recognizes school bus drivers on Prince Edward Island for their service in keeping our students safe as they travel to and from school each day.

 Welcome to Kindergarten Program

  1. The Welcome to Kindergarten Program is designed to help prepare preschoolers for a positive start to their school journey. Parents and their children attend spring Welcome to Kindergarten orientation sessions at their schools, where they receive early learning and literacy resources and learn how to use them at home. Since 2004, more than 450,000 children and families in Canada have taken part in Welcome to Kindergarten orientations. Welcome to Kindergarten spring session dates.

Hockey Academy Reminder for Gr.7’s will go as scheduled to the rink, and we will also have hockey academy the first day back after the March Break, which is a Wednesday! 

 Any grade nine student who was absent last week for the S.O.S (Signals of Suicide) please see Ms. Doyle-Hogan ASAP (this morning).  There will be a session during period 6 & 7 today.

Wrestling – Today and Thursday until 5:00pm.

Ski Club (no club this week) is finished for the season!!!!

Art class is cancelled until after March break.

3:15 – 5:00 – Girl’s Spring Volleyball – cancelled tonight.

 Paralympic GOLD: Congratulations to a former EWS student Mark Arendz who claimed the first Paralympic biathlon gold of his career by winning the men’s 15-kilometre standing race at the Winter Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea. The medal was the fourth of the Games for the 28-year-old from Hartsville, P.E.I., after earning silver and bronze in earlier biathlon events and a cross-country sprint bronze. Arendz now owns six career Paralympic medals.

EWS Tug-O-War: This annual homeroom challenge will begin on Monday. All homeroom teachers have a list of teams.
