  • ***The Library will continue to be a Zen Zone for the rest of the year. This idea has been quite positive for the library environment this week and so, it will continue. Students are encouraged to study, complete their work quietly, conduct research, or grab a coloring sheet if they wish, while using this space. The monthly Ceilidh Concert at the Bonshaw Hall will be Sunday, May 27  from 2 – 4 pm. Performers include special musical guests  Island Girls

(DonnaLee Perry, Alice Gallant and Sadie Perry) and singer/songwriters David MacKay and Evan Martin. Plus regulars Herb MacDonald, Andrea Corder, Phil Pineau and Tony the Troubador.  50/50 draw, cookies & tea, and open mic. Admission is by donation with proceeds going to the PEI Chapter of the Canadian ​​Hard of Hearing Association. All ages welcome; accessible for small wheelchairs. Where her influence will end

Congratulations and thank you to Lise Deveau for her exceptional teaching enthusiasm and dedication.  Lise has devoted endless after school hours for many years so her students can further explore their wonders of science. Last evening her student, Sophie MacDonald was awarded Silver at the Canada-Wide Science Fair held in Ottawa.  466 projects competed across the country and Sophie’s project Drug Discovery from Actinobacteria Using a Temperature-Dependant Culture Mimic Approach won silver. Congratulations to both of them on this huge achievement.

 MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS WEEK AT EAST WILTSHIRE SCHOOL

 Library will be a Zen Zone this week during both lunches. Come and enjoy some coloring/journaling and having quiet time.

  • PeerHelpers have a “What makes you happy – What makes you smile” bulletin board in the Lobby. All students and staff are encouraged to contribute.

 Ten keen EWS students wrote the University of Waterloo Grade 7,8 Gauss math contest yesterday. I would like to thank the following students for their participation:  Zoe Rankin-Myshrall, Kalan Rattry, Stephanie Angel, Payton Smith, Lilia Herbert, Kamelia Babaii, Nathan Gallant, Lauralynn Trainor, Madeline Iwankow, and Ethan Bottomley-Mason. Stephanie scored the highest aggregate in grade 7 while Ethan registered the highest in grade 8! Congratulations! I would like to meet with all ten students at the beginning of period 4 in Mr.Rogerson’s room.

Congrats to the girl’s softball team as they defeated Stonepark for the first time in three years.  The score was 11-8.  Ashley Cullen was the winning pitcher and the 2 players of the game were Cora Annear and Charli Arsenault.

 

There will be a meeting of all Track and Field participants who are going to the Track meet tomorrow at UPEI.  The meeting will be in the Cafeteria.  There will be an announcement to call athletes down.
